How did u made the transaction at TT Exchange at Pattaya.. I guess with cash indian currency…. Thanks Pardeep for a wonderful post, found just in time while I was planning my trip to Thailand in the next 10 days. From what I read on your experience related to Thailand, it would be best to get some THB Cash Currency upfront from a site like Bookmyforex and exchange local currency in Bangkok but not on airports.
I have a couple of questions though 1.
Also, what would be the best way to get in touch with you, would like enquire about some of your experiences to effectively navigate within Bangkok? Visiting thailand on Feb.. Thanks for the valuble suggestion.. Could you elaborate a little on multi currency cards ,whether it is good to go with bank or to get a private card as Nitin here suggests.. Thanks for sharing this valuable info Pradeep. So would it be possible for me to get Thai baht in cash from Forex centeres like Super rich or TT exchange using my debit card.

I have an international Mastercard debit card from icici bank. Do these forex centeres except payment by Debit card. This is a very elaborated and good article. However, i can see that you found a good bargain using Debit Card. Would you suggest me to withdraw an amount of Thai Baht in Bkk using my debit card? Deepika, I have not tried double currency exchange, but logically it sounds like a loss making deal.
Thai bank ATMs charge fix baht for cash withdraw, I suggest you to withdraw all required cash in single transaction to get best rate. I was skeptical if my debit card would work there so I have got all in cash. Hi Pardeep, good bit of info. I myself was facing similar dilemma when i went to Thailand earlier in the year.

The Rate is on higher side and I am getting 2. I have just wasted my 30 minutes chatting with him hoping the best rate…seeing your comment here. Last month, I went on a vacation to Europe and was comparing the various alternatives for carrying foreign exchange. I found the Travellers Card to be the cheapest and most easy to use.
It is accepted everywhere and there are no hassles of carrying currency as Travel Card works everywhere in Europe and currency conversion charges were very low for Euro and Swiss Franks. I carried Travellers Card as well as Cash and used Travellers card as 1st preference as it was very easy to use. As far as how much amount to load in Travellers Card is concerned, this thing is also there with Cash as to how much cash to carry. I did not find any difference in Traveller Card and Credit Cards when using abroad. Cards are definitely better in Europe as compare to Thailand.
Yes, I used it in France. I had pre-booked the hotel but still they blocked Rs. They do it in France so that in case the guest leaves without paying — they will charge form my card. This amount was reimbursed to me when I vacated the hotel.
I received around leading to loss of almost Rs. Blocking on the Credit Card is very normal in developed countries. This is the only transaction I did on my Credit Card. What was the loss of Rs. Was it because of currency fluctuation? Would it be better to provide Forex Card for such hotel policies instead of credit card provided they accept the prepaid card? This is done even in India now.
They deducted about 16k but reimbursed later when the 2nd room was paid for. Keep in mind, both transactions were made using the same card. Your email address will not be published.
